Navigate New Prague is a collaborative effort between city officials, downtown business owners, and the New Prague Chamber of Commerce to keep local consumers in-the-know and downtown business robust during the Main Street renovation project.
The road closure & detour for the Highway 19 / Main Street reconstruction project went into effect on Monday July 6, 2020.
The current plans for 2020 include:
West End: Mill and overlay at the intersection of Hwy 21 and Hwy 13; Reconstruction to begin from the 4 way intersection to 1st Ave SW. Sidewalks will be available to pedestrian traffic with the exception of the sidewalks near the railroad tracks.
The east end storm sewer replacement is complete.
A Look Ahead: The next 3 weeks will consist of concrete curve and concrete pavement placement
Prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, a series of “block parties” and other events were in the works as a means to support our local businesses through the construction seasons. With social distancing guidelines in effect, we will hold off on those efforts at this time. Now, more than ever, it is important to find ways to support your local businesses – especially those located downtown that are battling both the pandemic AND road construction.
See special offerings and promotions made available each month by the downtown businesses.
